wedding pneumatic cannon

This project was created on 10/02/2015 and last updated 7 years ago.

Description

I wanted a unique way to toss the garter at our wedding. I thought about rubber band style guns, but didn't have the time to build one. A pneumatic cannon was a quick, simple, and fun solution! WARNING: This project has the potential to hurt you and others. Do not point the gun at anyone directly. Do not load heavy projectiles. Do not over pressurize the gun or it could fragment sending you and others to the hospital or graveyard. Use with brain engaged.

This garter gun was a hit! We had great fun with it at the wedding and even got some video from a drone (which was also our ring bearer) of the garter shot.

You may want to consider a sprinkler valve instead of a ball valve for quicker activation, once you're done shooting garters you can get maximum velocity with other projectiles that way.

Yeah, I think that's the way to go. This was a last-minute design, but it ended up working great at the wedding. I hope to have the drone video of the shoot soon. Do you have a preferred supplier for the sprinkler valves online?

Yeah I believe we bought ours from this guy who pulled the crappy little solenoid valve that comes with it and swapped in a squeeze valve that opens much more quickly.  Of course you can do that yourself and it saves a few dollars, but we just paid for the value added service.  http://www.spudtech.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=13
