The train company where I live was discarding some trains and decided to part one out and auction the parts on eBay. I decided to buy the huge sign which goes on front and shows where it's going, just to play around with it. I got more than I bargained for when I contacted the company that built it and they sent me some documentation from the 80s... After trying to understand it I managed to build an RS232-USB interface and programmed a Python script which could communicate with it. The video shows the sign in action, it has a super cool case with an orange filter which isn't shown which makes the letters look really retro. It takes the song data from Last.fm which is linked to my Spotify.
