Using simple to get and modify parts, build and construct a Nerf gun that is capable of shooting a Nerf dart hundreds of feet.
Parts used:
Bike Pump (10$ k-mart)
3/4 PVC tube
3/4 PVC endcap
3/4 to 3/4 water hose adaptor
recycled bicycle inner-tube
Water Hose wand (home depot)
Hacks:
hacksaw cut the end off the water hose wand
drill a 1/4 hole on the back of the endcap and glue in the valve from a inner-tube.
standard PVC glue to put everything together.
Result:
With a 3-4 pumps to inflate the PVC piping, then pulling the water hose handle, the Nerf Dart fired off with the first shot and took a chunk of drywall and paint off the wall. Lesson learned, the next shot was out the front door: went over the neighbors house and dart was never seen again. So based on that I think it was successful.
Future:
Better documentation if there is interest.
Measure the actual distance this thing can fire a stock dart
take some video shooting some random stuff :)
There definitely is a limit to nerf darts. I found that as I get to about 100psi, the nerf darts tops start pop-ing off, or blows a hole out the side of the dart. Perhaps the next phase is to make some low cost darts that can wistand the pressure.
hehe, I tried to use some .22 cal ramset rounds to fire nerf darts but they just vaporised :/ They did look prety spectacular.
