CT-065W WiFi Appliance Controller Info

Learn more about the WiFi controlled "PLUGS" and see if I can put this info to good use.

Even before I got the product I was able to dig up some FCC certification documents that show that the manufacture has based them off Espressif Systems ESP8266EX modules. Let us see what we can learn about the modules and if we can have it do something else. Fell free to share any information and/or links.

I am learning about this module myself and also posting what others have found out about it too.

This is the manual that was submitted with the FCC certification. IT IS NOT CORRECT FOR THIS DEVICE

  • More Pinouts and Alt. Firmware.

A few days ago Scott did a teardown of the Eco Plug. His blog has a pinout image and he has also developed a nifty alt frimware for this plug. The alt firmware can be found on Github.

  • Pinouts don't match...

User localroger over on the Parallax forums came up with the pin out of the module.

"OK, I've got it. This is triple-checked and I'm quite certain of it, verified to the ESP8266 pins and even though the pin numbers don't match that FCC document, it's all consistent with the set of signals (even the three grounds) and the pinout of the ESP."

    1	GND
    2	Power 3v3
    3	CHIP_EN reset sw
    4	XPD_DCDC / GPIO16
    5	MTMS / GPIO14
    6	MTD1 / GPIO12
    7	MTCK / GPIO13	power sw
    8	MTD0 / GPIO15	Y to main board, D8
    9	GPIO2 D3
    10	GPIO0
    11	GPIO4
    12	DVDD / GPIO5
    13	U0RXD
    14	U0TXD
    15	EXT_RSTB
    16	GND
    17	TOUT / No Connection?
    18	GND
"All of them are verified to the chip except TOUT; I can't find any evidence that pin 17 is connected to anything past the first via on the daughterboard. Interesting that the invisible reset button is connected to CHIP_EN; maybe it just doesn't work? D3 is the wifi LED, and D8 the ON LED controlled by the same pin as the relay."

    See "links" for forum link."

  • Some work from others.

Ken pointed out that someone has written a plugin for Homebridge (a NodeJS HomeKit emulation server). This information can prove useful in developing applications for the ECO Plugs and others.

Do you know if Tout/adc has been verified? I would like to hook up a thermistor to one of these to control my heated floor, i was able to flash one of these with Tasmota and its working fine so far, analog input would be perfect without having to find an spi/i2c solution.
