The first PCB arrived today !

A project log for Yet Another (Discrete) Clock

I HAD to finally do this basic "exercice de style" in digital electronics, using some hundreds of transistors and diodes...

Good surprise today ! One month after First 10TFF module, I received my order. I requested 20 pieces and got 22 :-)

I'm very satisfied (good finish, decent delivery time, great price so I adopted http://dirtypcbs.com/ for this kind of non-urgent personal projects) and I can already count my mistakes. Well, so far:

(update: also missing: gate signal for forcing set/resetgate signal for forcing set/resetgate signal for forcing set/reset)

(update: another desirable feature: a decoupling capacitor !)

Another enhancement will be to add/mark the function of each pin of the connector on the silkscreen...

The "improvised" panelizing worked beyond my expectations ! Easy to break but it must be sanded before soldering.

Soldering was a breeze. In three steps/passes, everything was in place : first the 2 resistors, then the 4 inner MOSFET, then the 6 outer ring. So easy !

Yes, the 10K resistors are pretty funky ;-)

I must plan a version with the 2N7000, which has a reversed pinout but the parts are cheaper. (Update: and beware the BS250 with reversed pinout too !)

Until then, I have enough boards to make one clock as a demo unit, and another during a workshop :-) Now, if only all the BS250 could be delivered at last !
