The purpose of this project is to create a cheap, interesting robotics project that can be made by students with very little experience and is backed up by a robust curriculum that introduces students to circuits, programming, and basic fabrication. All of the parts are inexpensive, readily available, and can be bought in large quantities for classroom use. The robot itself can be made using basic hand tools or automated tools, like a CNC router or laser cutter. I find that students learn more when they have the physical experience of building something from scratch rather than simply putting together pieces from a kit.

I designed this robot for use in my 6th grade classroom, but it can be adjusted for higher level students as well.
