On the cheap! This project was under $10 per outlet. Arduino handles the RF to the wireless outlets from Amazon.com, and Ubuntu and PocketSphinx handles voice recognition.
Arduino, GPRS sheild, TFT touch screen, and a lot of programming. This is mainly a software project because I wrote the OS.
