We think that HackADay deserves a presence in the physical world.

We want a place where we can get excellent hackers from all over to come together to build things.  A great way of doing this is to build a hackerspace of our own from the ground up. Not only will we encounter all the issues involved in trying to get a bunch of inventive people together in one place, but we'll also gain experience with a wide variety of people we wouldn't normally encounter.

We've decided to try and locate the space in the Old Town area of Pasadena, CA. This location is ideal for so many reasons, not least of which is the strong presence of hackers and makers in Pasadena, and the massive engineering communities that exist around JPL and Caltech which are both in the local area.

Its early days yet, but we're starting to lay the initial ground work to figure out how we're going to do this. We've spent time to speak with people from the Pasadena Repair Cafe and some of the founders of Crash Space so we can try and avoid some of the common pitfalls that have been encountered before.

So far we've had great feedback from the local community and even the city council itself, it looks like lots of people want to see a space like this in Pasadena. So if you're in the Pasadena or LA areas then please follow this project, and get involved in the comments to help us figure out how to make the best hackerspace anyone has ever seen!
