Custom Lanyards

A project log for 2018 Open Hardware Summit badge

electronic conference badge for 2018 Open Hardware Summit attendees

I got this suggestion from AND!XOR for custom lanyards:

https://www.customlanyards4all.com

They recommended doing

"DYE SUBLIMATION LANYARD"

Any thoughts about width?

I think I'd like either 1" or 3/4".

Thanks,

Drew

Is there a a .brd prototype for the badge yet?

Seeing the width x height and the component layout of the board might be better indicators to choose which lanyard thickness to go for as well as lanyard hook type. Do we know what dimensions the E-Paper  will be?

For example if the badge is an itty-bitty 3x3 in it might seems a bit out of place dangling from a 1 thick lanyard with a bulldog-type lanyard hook.

@oshpark will you guys be manufacturing the PCBs then shipping it out to another vendor so they can do the pick -n -placing of components? Also will the PCBs be purple in that case?

I think the optimal width really depends on the weight of the whole contraption — small ones work better with narrower, and heavier need a wider one to be comfortable.

I like the thicker lanyards for badges/IDs at cons. Can we get any neat patterns or designs? We should have the name of the con and the year minimally.

Yeah, I think at a minimum OHS 2018.  I will check with Addie (OHS organizer) to see how the graphic design for 2018 is progressing.
