The influx of cheap laser cutters has created a need for a safety system that addresses the shortcomings of these poorly designed laser machines. This safety system goes above and beyond just a door interlock, it also monitors water flow and temperature of the cooling system, and tracks usage time as well, which helps in determining laser tube life span. As well, it should be noted that the arduino monitoring only displays the interlock status, interlocks are still mechanically oriented, and an arduino failure will not disable this most basic function. Web cam monitoring will be added once these basic functions have been implemented.
