New year. New direction.

A project log for 'Flea Ohm' FPGA Project

My attempt at making an FPGA experimenters board in a popular form factor :)

Hello again (and Happy New year to all! :-)

Over the holiday break, I've been pondering what I could do to possibly revive this stalled project of mine..

So, given I cannot obtain the parts I need for my current design I have therefore decided to look at redesigning my Ohm board using an FPGA from another manufacturer..

Okay, we'll see what I can come up with now. Suggestions are also welcome! ;-)

Cheers, Valentin

Any decision on which direction you are going?

Hello! Sorry I have been MIA mainly due to non-hobby matters. I hope to post another update in the next few days.

Hi,

I think that the Altera MAX10 would be a perfect core. Its low power features would allow a battery powered usage of this wonderful board.

Hi elpekos! Sorry about the delay in my reply. Thankyou for the kind word. Max10 is indeed an option worth looking into. I've used low power FPGAs before (MachXO2) and I am now tempted by faster and more capable silicon.. :-)

Hopefully a new part source will work out. The Ohm/Ohm+ looks cool. I like the portability of the tiny board. It looks like something I could easily break out on a rainy day for some lunch break gaming action. I'd buy one. :)

I want to try and make a Trs-80 Model 1 work on one of these too. It seems like it should fit if an Amiga 500 can fit.

Hello Brett! Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for your positive and encouraging words. I am hopeful that some good will yet come out of this project.
