I didn't like any comercial locks. Most of them are bluetooth only. Mainly for US market or battery only powered. Also, if the lock vendor ends support IoT devices become useless.
Maybe i can do better. I will try to develop my own opensource lock trying to improve what i miss from other products.
This is a work in progress so there are many details pending to optimize.
The main target is to get a device that can be installed and removed with minimal impact and tools while being developed. This way, i can keep the standard lock in place, and therefore not opening my house to anyone. Also i can perform many tests without altering the door itself. Having all this in mind, the lock is mounted over the manual lock and with the same mounting screws and uses a standard key to operate the lock.
The design of the pieces has in mind that will be 3d printed but also can be machined with CNC, lathe or hand tools. Gears can be 3d printed or mould casted.
Is the plan to use stall current to tell when the key has been rotated fully?
