Automated Syringe Exchange

Standalone prototype of an automated syringe exchange program with syringe telemetry

Similar projects worth following
This machine, known as the HTS, was produced for a competition in 2019. Its goal was to take the human out of the loop of syringe exchange harm prevention programs in order to make it easier, both logistically and legally, to operate syringe exchanges.

NFC tags attached to the syringes were read by an integrated reader in the machine, whereupon it will gather telemetry from the syringe, deposit it into a drawer for operator removal and disposal, and return a clean, tagged syringe.
