Food Printing with LuckyBot

Cura Profiles and Models for 3D Printing with Ender 3 and LuckyBot

I've modified my Ender 3 Pro adding a LuckyBot Food extruder. This is to create a set of CURA 5.x profiles and some good designs for chocolate printing.

The LuckyBot Food extruder is a nice piece of hardware that can be mounted on an existing 3D Printer.  One of the more common platforms is the Creality Ender 3.  Here is their marketing video:

I was able to get a Creality Ender 3 Pro for about $100.  The LuckyBot came with Cura 1.5 along with a complicated process of running a special set of GCODES prior doing your print.  It has a little information on working with different "materials" but a lot of work is needed to figure out the right settings to get the best prints.

The first goal of this project is to get a good set of LuckyBot profiles running on the latest version of Cura.  These are being stored on GitHub.  Right now, I only have the Creality Ender 3 Pro so I'm hoping others can chip in with their own profiles for their printer.

Adding LuckyBot Profiles to Cura 5.1

If you don't already have the latest version of Cura, you can get it here:

  • 2
Download and unzip the Cura Settings files for this project

Beta version 0.4 of the profiles can be found here :

  • 3
Copy each file to your Cura Installation

The Zip file contains all the files needed to create a new "Ender 3 Pro LuckyBot" printer and extruder profile.   Each file goes to a different location as follows.  If you are on Windows 10/11 with Cura 5.1.0 it probably looks something like this:

    copy /y chocolate.xml.fdm_material "C:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 5.1.0\share\cura\resources\materials\chocolate.xml.fdm_material"
    copy /y creality_ender3pro_luckybot.def.json "C:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 5.1.0\share\cura\resources\definitions\creality_ender3pro_luckybot.def.json"
    copy /y creality_base_extruder_0_luckybot.def.json "C:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 5.1.0\share\cura\resources\extruders\creality_base_extruder_0_luckybot.def.json"
    copy /y creality_ender3_luckybot.3mf "C:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 5.1.0\share\cura\resources\meshes\creality_ender3_luckybot.3mf"
    copy /y base_global_standard_luckybot.inst.cfg "C:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 5.1.0\share\cura\resources\quality\creality\base\base_global_standard_luckybot.inst.cfg"
    copy /y creality_ender3pro_luckybot0.84.inst.cfg "C:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 5.1.0\share\cura\resources\variants\creality_ender3pro_luckybot1.0.inst.cfg"

maccha house

Thank you for sharing your exciting venture with the LuckyBot Food extruder modification on your Ender 3 Pro! It's fascinating to see how technology like this can be harnessed for culinary creativity. Your endeavor to create CURA 5.x profiles and chocolate designs sounds intriguing, and it reminds me of how maccha house offers a diverse menu with various matcha-infused delicacies, each priced to cater to different tastes and preferences, just like your innovative 3D printing project.

Thanks for the work, the file in the 'Files' section downloads, but in the instruction the link is dead, that needs to be corrected (maybe just point to a github release?)

Glad I decided to search before doing this myself! Awesome work.  I'll probably need to do a little tweaking as you said, but my test print worked great!
