Pests such as rabbits are a big problem in my region (Anglesey, UK) when it comes to planting up a new orchard. Tree guards can be used on more established trees, but when they have been freshly grafted, as in the photo below, they are extremely delicate and the plastic tubes catch the wind and move about quite a bit, putting stress on the joint. One year, 20 or so fleshly grafted trees got eaten by escaped sheep from the neighbouring field. There are about 250 new trees this year. to expand the Dead Rat Cider orchard and I dont want them to get eaten by ANYTHING !!
