I started this project with threaded rod, a motor scavenged from a broken oscillating fan, bearings and wood. Florescent gaffers and duct tape as well as spray paint helped with the glow. Sign made out of foam board and wheels made from 8" aluminum duct and weighted for a guaranteed jackpot every pull.
Using a wooden frame, I was able to tie it all together and filled the voids with black fabric and florescent thread to help fraying. Blinking LEDs under the fabric helped diffuse and hide the lights to help create movement.
A standard 5gal bucket with a torque motor on the bottom, acting as a giant gumball machine, dispenses 2" capsules filled with candy, on every jackpot.
Brains are an Arduino Nano, powering relays (for 120v fan and torque motor, and 3.3v LEDS) and an adafruit sound board for the music. A hall-effect sensor detects the crank pull, and activates the machine.
IMpressively elaborate! Hope you get a bunch of visitors tomorrow night!
