My vision for the Trinket Smart Light is a device that can be used as a momentary flash light, a hands free task light, an identification token for my work computer, and when needed, used as a clipboard to transport text from one computer to another. A great deal of inspiration for this project was derived from a featured hack from way back on using LED's as light sensors, as studied and documented by the Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories.
I will also be rolling in some of my own ideas about user authentication with a micro controller powered token.
The device itself will use a Trinket Pro 5v, a lithium polymer battery with boost circuitry, a handful of LED's, and a few switches for user control. On the computer interface side, i will also use a trinket pro, just because, an LED for status and communication, and an FTDI adapter for simple USB serial communications to the host computer.
The bulk of the main components for prototyping and troubleshooting the basic design are ordered and on their way. Expect pictures and assembly directions shortly.
