My vision for the Trinket Smart Light is a device that can be used as a momentary flash light, a hands free task light, an identification token for my work computer, and when needed, used as a clipboard to transport text from one computer to another. A great deal of inspiration for this project was derived from a featured hack from way back on using LED's as light sensors, as studied and documented by the Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories. I will also be rolling in some of my own ideas about user authentication with a micro controller powered token. The device itself will use a Trinket Pro 5v, a lithium polymer battery with boost circuitry, a handful of LED's, and a few switches for user control. On the computer interface side, i will also use a trinket pro, just because, an LED for status and communication, and an FTDI adapter for simple USB serial communications to the host computer.
