Broadcast Radio Weather Radar

Weather radar that uses FM radio stations as its signal source and costs <$100 (USD).

In this project, we're using a cheap FM receiver chip to scan the broadcast band and pick up the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) from each station, then back-correlate that to the stations' tower locations. Any signal loss along the path from the tower to the receiver is then compared to signal loss on a clear day, and increased loss is mapped as water vapor density in air. In short, we're making weather radar with an FM radio.
