A very low current (< 1mA consuming) SMT LED could be used by putting in a large series resistor so that it barely glows to indicate power but I won't be in for LEDs glowing brightly (>5mA or so) because they would consume a significant amount of the power being boosted.

snapVCC does have an LED with a 1K resistor in series. A barely glowing LED may not be very useful. But I do need to find a solution - an indicator which doesn't draw much current...
