I wanted to understand how the new USB spec works after I got a new phone with it on. I have designed a couple of breakouts for experimentation so I can start using it in some of my other projects. I have also put a guide up here to show how the type C connector can be used without too much added complexity.
If this breakout were to be used on a breadboard, there would be more coupling between adjacent pins. For impedance (balancing between the D+ and D-) and reducing crosstalk, I would move VBUS to pin 3.
