MakeIt Labs member Alanna uses the pottery wheel and kilns at MakeIt Labs to practice her craft. Though she is an experienced potter, she talks about why our community and space are appealing. Also, she recently took our introductory wood shop class and shares her appreciation for having safe shop practices taught in a clear manner, helping to make machines like our cabinet-grade table saw, somewhat less intimidating.

This MakeIt Labs interview features a unique perspective from one of our Board of Directors members. Rob talks about how MakeIt Labs fills an educational need in our community, providing a place for people to learn about the things that interest them, teaching them to apply these technical skills to the real world. He also touches upon the dedication of our membership, and how their countless hours of volunteer effort have helped turn MakeIt Labs into what it is today.
We want to expand what we can do for the community and our members, so please consider donating to our IndieGoGo campaign. We have the chance to move into a larger building, but we need to raise funds for renovations. Every little bit helps. Thanks!

Many of the projects that are done by our members do not fall in the traditional areas of electronics or computers that many maker spaces focus on. While we do have plenty of electronics and software hackers in our ranks, we pride ourselves on our breadth of skills and equipment. Our welders, CNC plasma cutter, machine shop, wood shop, and automotive areas encourage members to roll up their sleeves (or put on a welding jacket and mask), and get their hands dirty.
In this video we introduce Libby, a member who built a backwoods cabin with her husband, by pre-fabricating the parts in the MakeIt Labs wood shop. She also talks about the community and lasting friendships that form at MakeIt Labs through collaborating and acting as both teachers and students to each other.

While we have a lot of awesome tools like a laser cutter, 3D printers, and an automotive lift, our most valuable resource is our membership. We're going to introduce you to several of our members, and you will hear in their own words about why they love MakeIt Labs, and hear how MakeIt has helped them do some cool projects.
We start with Johnathan, who converted a motorcycle to run on electric power, and is a key member of our "Drone Club," where we build and fly DIY quadcopter model aircraft.
Please consider supporting our IndieGoGo campaign to help us move into a larger building that will help us dream bigger and reach more people. Thank you!

Over five years, MakeIt Labs has grown from humble beginnings in a small garage, into a 6000 sq. ft facility with almost 100 active members - all without outside sponsorship. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we greatly benefit from the generosity of individuals and companies donating their time, equipment and materials to us. We rely on our membership dues for operating funds and improvements, but we're outgrowing our current space, and we have reached a critical point in our evolution.
Through a partnership with the City of Nashua, we have the opportunity to expand and improve our offerings. They have offered us a lease deal on a building that is over 3 times the size, for less than we pay for our current space!
We can save a building that is part of Nashua's rich manufacturing history, and renovate it into our new home. But it will cost a lot - over $30,000 - to get it into move-in condition, not even counting the hundreds of hours of labor that our members have pledged in volunteer work.
And that's where you come in.
With your help, we want to take a vacant building and turn it into a place with the capacity to make a difference. A place where we can host groups and classes of all types and sizes. A place for better tools and capabilities. Even a place with multiple bathrooms and a kitchen!
Check out our fund raising video, complete with an epic drone tour of our potential new home. We poured our hearts and souls into this, and we hope you enjoy it!
Please help us reach this goal by contributing to our IndieGoGo campaign, and by sharing this link far and wide!
