Light Bulbs Seesaw

This article is about a light bulbs seesaw.

You can see how my structure works in this video:

Do not worry. This circuit is not ask complicated as it looks in the photo.

I made the seesaw from the following materials:

- three old brushes for the seesaw,

- three 1.5 V light bulbs (you might need more in case you burn the bulbs),

- three light bulb screws/holders,

- AA battery metal case plates (I straightened them out with pliers many years ago) - I used two to hold the seesaw (yellow in colour) and two for the contacts,

- metal rod (to hold the seesaw),

- AA battery (I could have used AAA, C or D battery),

- AA battery harness (I could have used AAA, C or D harness),

- insulated metal wires,

- 1 mm thickness metal wire.

Step 1: Make the Seesaw

I made the seesaw very quickly by attached three old paint brushes with 1 mm thickness metal wire.

For the second step is attached all of the three light bulbs. Then I connected positive (red) and negative (black) wires to the centre light bulb as shown in the photo (I used yellow wire as an extension of red and black wires that were too short).

Connecting the battery after this step would turn ON the centre light bulb.

Then I extended the red and black wire even further. I connect red wire to the bulb on you right and black wire to the bulb on your left. Both of the two remaining bulbs were still OFF. I connected negative wire (black) to metal plate on your right and positive wire (red) to the metal place on your left. You can see that at the bottom of each light bulb there are many turns of 1 mm metal wire. Those turns are used as contacts from light bulbs to the metal plates, thus allowing the current to flow into the bulb on the edge of the seesaw when the seesaw gently hits one of the plates.



Step 2: Testing

When testing and making the seesaw you can easily short the positive and negative pins. This might cause the battery to explode.

Thus you need to be careful.

Conclusion

This design could be modified into a funny toy.
