FREE Plotter - CalComp Techjet 5500 (SouthWest CT)

I have a CalComp Techjet5500 available for someone who can put it to good use.

This is a hacker special, since I got it because it wasn't working properly. As I recall the problem is that one of the optical paper feed position switches failed, causing the unit to always think there was(n't?) paper present. If memory serves, that was all that was wrong with it, though it has been sitting in my basement for the better part of 10 years so it may need some other TLC.  I think I also have the manual and a spare set of print cartridges for it as well (though they might be shot by now). The nice thing about this plotter is that while it does have chipped carts, it only remembers the last one you used, so if you have two sets, you use up set one, install set two, and put the refilled set one back on the shelf for next time; you can just switch back and forth endlessly between the pair.

I figured that I'd rather see it go to someone from the community that could use large format printer than see it go to the scrap heap or parted out to bits. I know I have spent plenty of time needing to print large things and not having the resources to do so.

All I ask in return is that you donate whatever it's worth to you to a local charity that helps those who need it, I suggest Bridgeport Rescue Mission.

Leave a reply if you're interested and I'll get in touch.

Happy printing!
