RBPi Zero in Europe??
suicidal.banana wrote 01/27/2017 at 09:34 • 0 pointsSo ever since the very first Raspberry Pi Zero has been announced, i've been trying to get my grubby paws on one/a couple. However, over a year later, i still have yet to find a place in Europe that actually sells these things, whenever i check, they are out of stock..
So my question is this, does anybody in Europe know of a webshop that actually has RBPi Zero's in stock? preferably v1.3 but at this point i'd be happy getting any version.
Thanks in advance!

http://www.whereismypizero.com/ is my go-to source for finding places the RPi0 is in stock. https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/raspberry-pi-zero is currently showing as in-stock.

Nice, thanks for the tip both, will keep an eye on their shop :)
To awnser dave's question, i want to build a sort of electronic puzzle box for a nephew, with the goal to hopefully get him to be a little less iPad/TV addicted, and/or get him interested in how things actually work. While i could do that with an Arduino (mini nano whatever) or maybe even a non zero pi, the form factor and added functionality of the PI Zero (over an Arduino) would make a lot of things possible/more within my skillset.
I 'sourced' a very nice old small wooden box i want to use for this, but currently still have like 20 different 'puzzle part' ideas, and no clue which ones ill eventually end up using (to be blunt about it, ill have too see what idea's i can actually pull off, and then see how many/which i can shove in the box & still have enough room for storing things in said box)
To give more of an solid idea, the sort of 'puzzle parts' im considering range from simple to quite complex, heres a random selection:
- Make a certain gesture with the box (imu/tilt sensors)
- Get light color X to shine on some hole/aperture/lens (color sensor)
- Put it in sunlight (light sensor or even little solar panel)
- Play and win a miniature simon says game (4 buttons + 4 leds + speaker/piezo + some code)
- Detect temperature change (temp sensor, ie; if it rises/falls 5-10 degrees over a fairly short period, like when put on a heater)
- Put in a certain code on a keypad (code found somewhere in the real world)
- Plug in a set of a sort of 'electronic keys' in order (found somewhere in real world, not sure yet how i would do this, i guess easiest would be to just have each key create different connections between some slots in the keyhole)
- Hold object X infront of camera (cam + some basic blob detection)
- Knock a certain tune on the box (mic)
- Be at a certain place (detect wifi ssid of family member X)
- Possibly detect if mom & dad are near for the final unlock (check for their iphone bluetooth handles?)
- Make it a connectable hotspot that serves a basic web based game (lol, this is quite the stretch, but imo would be amazing, and with web being my background, not that hard once id have the hotspot working)
The simpler ones would certainly be doable with an Arduino (actually, reading trough them, i guess all of these would) but the more complex things would be alot easier for me with a RBPi, and then the Zero would be the best formfactor.
After completing the entire puzzle, i guess i'd like for him to use to box to hide some candy or whatever (a pocket knife? idk) so some parts of the puzzle will have to be repeated to open the box again, possibly with a bunch of switches or even a screen on the inside to select what remains as 'code', but for now im not really thinking to much about this yet.

Check https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/raspberry-pi-zero regularly! It's one of the cheapest suppliers, out of stock right now, but I've seen them more in stock then out of.
Btw, what do you want to build?
