DEFCON 201 is excited to be supporting the first ever KIDS HACKATHON in Jersery City by Zaniac Learning!

We are delighted to bring the STEM Masters at Andy’s Tech Garage to help spark kids imaginations right before they enter the hackathon contest.

Our Co-Founder, Sidepocket, and possibly other DEFCON 201 Members will be on site at the event to capture the fruits of invention throught the day to social media in additon to educatiating parents on safe online practices for themselves and their children.

Zaniac Jersey City is hosting its very first Kids Hackathon!

What is a Kids Hackathon exactly?

It’s an event where we will group children together by age and skill level, and present them with a “problem” to be solved. They will be able to utilize the resources provided to them at the Zaniac site. This can be anything from a Mac computer, to a circuit board, and even a robot or 3D Printer!

At the end of the Hackathon, the kids will present their work and a winner will be selected (prize included!).

We hope to empower kids to change the world…one hack at a time.

Children will be grouped as follows:

Grades 1–3

Grades 3–5

Grades 5–8

Things To Know:

Price: $20

Pizza & Snacks will be provided!

Registration is required, space is limited!

Please be prompt as the kids will need the full amount of time to learn the systems and solve the problem.

DEFCON 201 is the North New Jersey sub-chapter of DEFCON GROUPS ( that spun from the DEFCON ( convention that is the largest computer security hacker convention in the USA. We are a hardware and software hobbyist open workshop group that meets in Hoboken NJ every third Friday of the month.

Our mission is to help people learn new things, meet new people, mentor others in areas you may be strong in and provide some cohesion within the hacker culture in the general New Jersey area. We facillitate this through project collaborations, group gatherings, and group activities that will best serve our community and the world.
