Survey on the Workflow and Collaboration of Makers and Their Community
Gino wrote 07/31/2018 at 07:29 • 0 pointsIm currently conducting research for my final year thesis which the aim is to identify insights gathered from this survey to understand the workflow and collaboration of the users of Hackaday.io and any other makers.
My aim at the end of this is to identify what could be beneficial for the Hackaday community, whether it be in the form of a physical or online tool or even a set of guidelines to act as stepping stones during conceptualisation and prototyping for a user.
You can answer the survey here

This will be great help to get some participants and I hope my research and resources gathered will be a benefit to the online and local maker community.

Your thesis writing should avoid indirect speech and passive voice.
Get rid of all words and phrases that don't directly say what you mean, especially puff phrases such as "my aim", "whether it be", and so on.
Avoid passive voice. Instead of "I'm currently conducting research" say "I'm researching". Do that sort of nip/tuck everywhere. "My aim at the end is to identify" could be "I hope to identify" or similar.
The phrase "a set of guidelines to act as stepping stones during conceptualisation and prototyping for a user" is buzzword quiche. It could be replaced by: "prototyping guidelines".
The watchword for papers is "brevity". Get rid of all indirect phrases and useless words, unless you're writing sociology or philosophy.
