Logisim memory editor
2-Zons wrote 01/02/2019 at 21:10 • 1 pointAnyone know if there's a hex editor compatible with Logisim RAM/ROM files? I don't get even basic copy and paste functionality in the built in editor. Documentation says it supports copy paste but I can only select blocks the copy paste don't do anything. Does anyone know if any of the hex editors will support the run length encoding of Logisim's files?

You can still use the older style (uncompressed) memory images with newer versions of logisim. For example, the following image works fine:
v2.0 raw
DE
AD
BE
EF
Read more about the raw file format on the bottom of this page:

If you were so inclined, you could put together a quick tool to translate back and forth from normal binary files to this format, then use your favorite hex editor.
EDIT: I was so inclined, so I wrote a script to convert to/from the logisim data files (including RLE encoded ones) to straight binary files:

Cool, thanks. I had already entered in a bunch of data with the Logisim editor so I was looking for a way to edit the existing files.
