Paralleling different capacity 18650's for a pack.
xobmo wrote 04/24/2015 at 04:18 • 1 pointDoes anyone have any experience with paralleling 18650's salvaged from laptop batteries of different brand and/or capacities? I am planning to use salvaged cells that I have recovered from various packs to build a go-cart battery. I don't know the capacities but they all hold at least 4.10 volts.

Thanks @Jasmine -
@xobmo: you generally don't want to run these in a bare parallel configuration. There are *very* cheap battery management circuits availabel that are designed to build packs from bare cells in various combinations of serial and parallel.
This gets you peace of mind, since you can now safely charge and discharge the whole pack at once (as opposed to using a standalone charger and charging individual cells)

I'm not sure if @stripeytype or @andyhull might be able to help you. It looks like they've had some experience with these projects:
