Description

This project is based on the butia board used in Uruguay to teach higschoolers and childrens how to program robots. Link: https://www.fing.edu.uy/inco/proyectos/butia/

Where I live (Uruguay) there is a enormus impact from the program one laptop per child, so every student has a laptop with a linux distribution on it (Sugar, Ubuntu and Gnome).

Using both things I started to re develop some sensors adapting them to do physics experiences. The goal of this project is to teach how to program and make the students feel that what they have created has an expecific purpouse, in this case helping with the physics experiments.

Details

Intro

This project is based on the Usb4butía developing board made in Uruguay as a project to teach programmation skills in schools and highschools. The main idea is to use it as a way in wich each student can find a practical use on programming.

The Language

Because is a project whose target are kids or teenagers who are taking their firsts steps into de world of programming, we will use a visual programming language (VPL) known as TurtleBots (link to download). It only works on linux. There is an image below:
