If the Sparkfun Bluetooth is included in my build is the USB mainly used for power?
That's right Mark.You also will need to take off the shunt connector (J13) and place it sideways to put LipSync in bluetooth mode.The bluetooth version of code is being tested at the moment and it will available in our github page soon.
