Possible other modifications:

Incorporating PTC Heating elements, other projects have used these on their own as in the below links.  I was actually looking at radiator fins when i found these for cheap.  The fins i wanted simply as IR absorbers to then through convection/conduction, heat the air itself more to then heat the pcb and allow less of the IR to directly strike the pcb.  Since I am building ac control circuitry I will also examine using these as possible pre IR heat balancing to bring the temperature up and then use the IR elements to peak the reflow.

They are also super cheap and relatively safe due to the increasing resistance with temperature.

Forced convection:

I thought about this one but its size is pretty limited, if I do anything here it will be duct work with the existing fan to drive air through a top heating section and then flow down through perforated sheet metal.  I got a lot of spare sheet metal just from stencils my pcb supplier sends me which is http://jclpcb.com

That would round out the extent of modding for the price of this oven.  PCB, components, etc will end up in the $120-160 range.  At that point it would be better to get a T937M that comes with forced convection already and is larger for $700.  It also I would assume need a controller upgrade.  All the other models up dont have forced convection till this one. A similar one to my fin/forced air idea is around 2k from China.  If the T937M can be modded to use more air and less IR strike, that may round out a nice reflow oven for just under 1k all in.
