Rehabilitation of a CNC Router

I have recently acquired an Exitech 6090 CNC Router. It works (good news). I can generate G-Code for things, run it, and have a result which is what I was looking for. Bad news is that I don't trust the control system. The system has a control box which drives the 3 motors (X, Y and Z), and the spindle motor - this connects to an interface box via a cable with a D type connector that I do not recognize - it is about the size of a DB-25, but has more pins, with a tighter pitch, and the two rows are not staggered. The interface box connects to a PC via a 25 pin RS-232 and a USB interface. The PC is running windows XP, and 'Mach3Mill' software.
My current workflow is to generate G-Code on another computer, and copy the file to a floppy disk, which the WinXP machine reads and I can run via the Mach3Mill software.
