That project uses an esp32 for Bluetooth A2DP combined with an VS1053 to decode audio. It allows you to stream audio from your phone to an old stereo. You can « hear » it in action here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQRYkuHnd9I To increase range, I’ve connected an external antenna which make is a lot more reliable. I’ve built a first one using an Adafruit VS1053 breakout and connecting an external antenna to increate range (https://github.com/paulgreg/esp32-bluetooth-audio-adafruit/) I’ve built more using ESP32-WROOM-32U with external antenna and generic VS1053 MP3 breakout (https://github.com/paulgreg/esp32-bluetooth-audio-generic).
  • 1 × ESP32 like (ESP32-WROOM-32U) with external antenna
  • 1 × Adafruit VS1053 or generic VS1053 MP3 board https://www.adafruit.com/product/1381
  • 1 × Jack connector (if none on board)
