We met a person that has a compression of the spinal cord since she fell when she was younger.
She now is totally paraplegic, and can partially use her arms, with a little strengh, especially in her thumb.
She showed us several everyday objects that are adapted to her condition, and others that are not but that she would like.to be.
Our mission is to take an objet she would like to be able to use and adapt it, so we chose a weighted bracelet.
The problems here are that it's difficult for her to pull the velcro to put it on or off, and that when she raises her arm, the bracelet slips and it's not practical.
So we thought about a glove that can be put on thanks to some rings where she can slip her thumb and pull.
It's more like a sleeve, on which is sewed a band of strap that she can put around her hand in the manner of a bandage. This aims to avoid the sleeve to slip on her arm when she raises it. Then the strap is fixed with some velcro.
Plus, as it is an object for exercise, we have to put some weight on our glove.
To do so, we will sew little pockets filled in with sand to serve as weight. These will locate on each side of the forearm and each side of the hand.
