We have a pile of old equipment used for teaching wave interference with microwaves. These transmit and receive at a few GHz and include an amplifier. Using a send horn and a detector diode, we measure the change in a standing wave between the send horn and a metal target. The movement of the target can be heard by amplifying the output in the audio frequency range.
