1) DIPSY easysolder PCB with FPGA assembled

Well, until now I just finished the pre-assembled pcb, which had the FPGA already mounted. I had to add two 0201 caps, one 0201 resistor, and the sot-23 voltage regulator. The passives are extremely small, and I'd rather not do that again by hand. But the dipsy works!

Hyper super done, that really is really good to hear. I mean it.

But those 0201, they are not 0201, they are 0402, that's why it is called easysolder! 0201 are really pita, but still doable if there is room enough for the solder tip. Dense placed 0201 are really bad.

OK then, but smaller than anything I've ever done before and they looked *a lot* smaller than 0603 so I thought "oh that must be 0201 then". I wouldn't want to try anything smaller than that...

Yes 0201 are not really for hand solder. Some young people do them without magnifier glass seen that 0402 is something that can be made to "stick" onto PCB usually 0603 are doable, 0805 are really easy to solder. It also depends a bit the footprint. And solder to use. With RoHS solder it is much much harder to manage.

I have used 0302 x2 resistor arrays.  While not for the average person, they are easier than trying to place/reflow two 0201 right next to each other.

Honestly it is not meant to make life hard ,and force all and everyone to solder 0402 or smaller stuff. Just that the FIRST dipsy left as DIY kit..

funnily the MOST complex part is the EASIEST. The BGA package solders itself almost by magic. Some good flux, then you move it so that you do not see the PCB pads from the top, and into oven.. almost 100% yield!

Anyone younger or older than me, this is "easysolder" version of the PCB.. Ok the thing is that I wanted to ship something today and recipient was eager to solder ALL from scratch, so I added one extra bare PCB for this fun. One PCB is pre-assembled with the FPGA by me, so all that is needed basically is to solder the SOT-23 packaged LDO.

Very experienced person ;)) No doubt. But also it's good practice if you
want to get some experience with precise soldering. And the idea here
is that it enables a vast area for developing MCU using sand particles
to create a complete CPU ARCH + outside peripheral :)
