During some meetings with the team, we realized we wanted janis to more than a LED lamp so we came up with the idea to create seasons for Janis designs with specific topics and tell a story about it, so that people who make or buy a Janis will get curious or inspired about art or science and learn about it too! so we started to work on mc escher incredible master pieces of art ...
pics follows with cnc completed plus some examples of mc escher art :-)
We wanted a new box for janis, like a bit more good looking janis, so did some tries with parametric kerf designs for bending wood, this was the first tries we did with it :-)
Below picture was an artist design from a Colombian artist
During early 2015, hackbo and 1/4 tech (hackerspaces from Bogota, Colombia ) started to work together on different types of projects, of of them was janis :-) , we are happy to show the world the project and the story behind.
This is some early stage production we did for mini maker-faire bogota and SOFA event.
We almost always use tracing software like potrace inside inkscape, but we also use illustrator and well of course drawing vectors by hand using those applications too , that for creating vector files of images then we import it into autolaser sw . then we tunned them a bit and then it goes to laser machine :-)
Very nice drawings! How did you made them?
