Our constant drive to streamline the presentation of information has resulted in major advancements in human-computer-interaction as well as technical advances. However, for the past 8 years, it has primarily been focused on touch screens and multi-touch gestures.
Gestro is a concept HCI device that attempts to harness the power of basic hand gestures in order to process some of the more trivial distractions and notifications from a smartphone.
The idea is that instead of having to pull out a device or tap a watch to acknowledge or dismiss notifications, you could do a quick hand-gesture in front of Gestro instead. Swipe left to dismiss a message. Swipe right to acknowledge, or to pick up your phone. Swipe up/down to scroll through your list of alerts.
Gestro combines a small TFT screen to display the information along with gesture sensors in order to provide the interface for the user. Built into a slick, hinged form factor, Gestro can be deployed in a variety of places.
