I was thinking of getting a Phillips Hue kit, but I saw some monitors going to the e-waste pile at work and realized that they would be a much better source of controllable light. After doing some experiments in Unity, I got some looping videos that I liked, so I started collecting. After a while, I had enough to start building this.
The monitors all show the same image, so the videos have to tile properly, and they can't have any characteristics that make any part of the screen really stand out. After some experiments, I found that this works best with a relatively small repeating pattern, with uniformly distributed breaks that are small enough that they're not noticeably identical across monitors.
