This is perfect for a prop I am making (and have a deadline coming up quite soon)! I often need linear actuators for various opening and closing mechanisms, and tbh the engeneering of rack and pinion solutions is a bit over my head atm. Thanks! Now off to the local maker space :)
I printed one of these out and gave it a try - worked great! I don't have a use for it in mind yet, but I think this is clever as hell. I found a cheap "servo tester" from China really useful for aligning and testing.
