Description

After spending a bit of time fixing an issue with my cell phone (an LG V10 smartphone that has a headset jack with poor tolerances, which causes intermittent shorts between the GND and MIC contacts, in turn making the music pause and restart randomly) I decided to take the short TRS-to-TRRS adapter and add a microphone and remote control buttons so I could easily control the music app. Luckily Android is open source, and I was able to find all the information I needed to implement the Vol+ and Vol- buttons and the button that is used to send Play/Pause & Next/Prev Track signals to the current media app being used (see external link #1 below).

This project page is currently incomplete. I have to leave it this way for a bit, but I will be getting back to it again in the morning (unless I forget, in which case s/in the morning/as soon as possible/)
