Mega Sudoku

Arduino Sudoku game made using 81 seven-segment displays!

Similar projects worth following
Giant handheld Sudoku game. Instead of using an LCD screen like any sane person would, I decided to use 81 seven segment displays! Actually, I found inexpensive three digit displays on AliExpress, so I only need to purchase 27 of them. :-)

Great project. Just one questions: what is that IC on the top of the breadboard?

There are a lot of nice LED segment controllers out there.. check out the TLC5920, HT16K33 and more! It can also be cheaper to make a bunch of small PCBs an connect them together vs. one giant PCB.

Saw your project on youtube, any progress yet? Any ideas about a case/cabinet to house the game in? would be a cool coffee-table-game...

Oh that would be cool!  As big as the displays are, they're not quite coffee-table sized.  That's a great idea though...
My current plan is to make it a handheld.  It's the size of a large iPad.
As far as progress, I've been learning EasyEDA PCB software because the EagleCAD that I have had cannot handle the large PCB without purchasing the next level license.

Building a Sudoku device has been on my backburner for a long long time now.  I actually bought 100 pcs small top-view nixie tubes (not sure if it was IN-2 or not, all my stuff are boxed up and put in storage) to build one with a nice retro orange glow.

But as usual a bunch of other projects got ahead in the queue of things-to-build.  Maybe one day... If you finished yours maybe I feel compelled to make mine ;-)
