If you know how to play piano keyboard you can play on this guitar. Holding the piano keys will assign them automatically to the touch sensing string of this small device. You can plug the midi out to your favourite music software to produce great guitar sound. Piezo element underneath will sense the force applied to the strings and calculate the midi velocity. Additionally you insert an Arduino based SAMD21 mini board to create a simulated guitar sound (Karplus Strong algorithm) from the midi data outputted by the Atmega 328P and plug the Audio out jack to your amplifier. All powered from USB 5V input.
This Strummer is a combination of my early Strumpad project with a piano keyboard. The Arduino software only needs to be minimally adjusted. The Strummer will be easy to convert to a right or a left hand guitar playing, this is why there are extra 4 holes for the piano keys.
Today the PCB files are done and will be sent to a PCB house. All components are easy to find and standard. They should fit a 100mm x 100mm box that I already purchased. The 100mm x 100mm format is the best value for the price at the PCB houses.
So, is it the same project than before except that you don't need a Midi In Keyboard anymore ?
