Hello! I just had the event on Sunday. I spent the night before it without any sleep to get Flipario ready for the competition. However after hours of soldering, fitting, and trying to squeeze in the electronics, I couldn't finish the robot. I feel that was for the best since I was feeling the design was not upto par anyway. So for now, I will be updating the CAD completely and making sure things fit properly this time around. Another small detail I will need to lookout for would be making sure the center of mass doesn't get concentrated on the back of the robot. I will be putting all the details once the robot is ready. The next event is going to be around end of Jan or early Feb so the bot should be way ready before that.

Soooooooo, following the completion of my previous robot, I wanted to build a new robot. One of the places to look for inspiration I like is youtube. After going through some videos, I found Thang's +/- 90deg flip mechanism. This made an idea click in my head and I was off to the races! I first started by testing the mechanism for my used case by building link chains in Fusion360. After that I started with the CAD for the robot. The base plate required some work with the drive motor mounts but this work will make work easier in future projects. I built features of the chassis base in different sketches. After some tinkering and playing around with my servo options, I started working on the chassis shell. This was even more difficult as this was my first time utilizing the shell feature. Following that, I cascaded down to a couple more sketches to separately build up the flipper mechanism. After hours of CAD work, I was satisfied with the design and sent it for 3D printing. In terms of the electronics, I need to only do some soldering work and implement a new 2S higher torque and quicker servo. At the moment, the electronics are ready and will be installed once the parts are ready in the next few days. I will be making project logs for each of them to explain them a bit more.
