Wow i still have the original leakseeker 89 havent been used still bnew i just purchased it way back just for collection.

This is a great idea, but I do wish it was open source.  The cost at EBay is a bit steep and I would like the fun of building my own.

Hi zoot, this project is a rework of the EDS-89 from EDS inc. The original circuit was designed by Dave Miga. He sold it as a kit in the 1980’s. After discontinuing it, I saw it mentioned online and contacted Dave to see if I could get a kit somewhere. At the time, he was still selling the parts. I asked him if I could redesign the layout as I was a PCB Designer. He said go for it. He still retains the firmware and I had to buy programmed parts from him. I sourced all the other parts and designed a PCB to fit in a Hammond 1330 hand-held case. I added a battery and a test circuit on the front panel. I was really only making it for myself but I had to order multiple quantities of parts to bring the cost down. I decided to sell the remainder to recover my costs. Yes, I know the Ebay price is on the high side but the parts were costly too. For example, the DAC was $20, the programmed micro was $18, the case was $8, the PCB’s were $10 each, my design skills… you get the picture.

Hi Aqib, I believe this space is for whatever aspect of my project I’m currently working on. My understanding is that it is a placeholder for my projects. My project at the moment is the Leakseeker-89R. I will be publishing more information here as I progress.
