Robot for collecting known items

For my master thesis i will build a prototype of a service robot. It is called ROCKI which stands for robot for collecting known items.

ROCKI should be able to find, recognise and bring known items. The user should be able to teach the robot how to grip the items. Furthermore the robot scans items so that it will be able to find them. The uniqueness about this project is that the prototype should be build by using open source soft- and hardware. I'm just at the beginning and will start building in a couple of weeks.
