I like the idea - maybe something like a select box with percentage?
It is my experience that when you drag images into the editor they all have the same width which is the width of the editor but I assume you'd like them to be narrower which would probably look better in many cases.
Resizing images seems to have the effect that they are assigned a fixed size in pixels so they will look different on differently sized monitors which messes up the layout.
You could try resizing images by editing their html tags as suggested by @RoGeorge in #Hack the Hack A Day Editor; e.g. set the width to 75% and the height will scale according to the aspect ratio. I do this quite frequently to display two images side-by-side, an example for this is the last image in this log.
However, I agree that better image editing tools in the editor would be nice and it has been suggested multiple times in the comments here.
Thanks for the tip with the percentage! Thats quite useful and I'll try it! I know about the layout, but as the text/images are all inside of one "frame", one could "simply" add a "% of width" option to the Edit-option of images instead of a px-number.
@Jan Yeah, that's pretty much what I suggested some time ago; to scale the images in terms of percentage and not pixels but the devs are probably busy as it is.
I like the idea of adding these options to the edit-image-dialogue, maybe even further in the future options for cropping and rotating the image could be added there as well.
Haha, while we're on the subject of redactor... can we please have *strikethrough*?
my latest page has 2 likes but only one feed update for it.
might have something todo that I follow one of those persons and on not.
I don't think so. I saw the same problem (see below) with people I follow as well as people I don't follow.
I think it might have something to do with the email notification limit which it says is limited to one per hour.
Why in the name of all that's holy and much that isn't can't I change my profile image? I've tried multiple times two different images, one a JPG and the other a PNG. Both are under a meg and both seem to upload and display but when I save profile changes, the image reverts to the original.
When I sign in using my Twitter profile I get all my projects. When I use the log in feature (same email), I have no projects, and my profile is empty? Does the system not tie things together based on the email address? Note: I have to do this in some places where Twitter is restricted.
we're not getting your email from twitter so we can't connect accounts automatically
If I understand what you are saying, it seems like an odd way to make things work. So, if I log in using the 'connect Twitter' which is the same login, I am a different profile than if I use the same email address and the regular login approach. Seems backwards to me. That said, how can I transfer the projects I created using my Twitter login using the direct login (given its the same email account)?
if you create account with twitter we don't know your email. you can go to https://hackaday.io/settings, give us your email and set password. that way you'll be able to login to same account with twitter and with email/password combination.
I think I found a bug: I'm not getting notifications for all skulls I got on a profile page (https://hackaday.io/page/1566). I think this happens when the skulls are given in a relatively short period of time, maybe about 10min. Notifications on the site shouldn't be limited like email notifications, right?
Personally, I like receiving emails for every skull, mention, etc... even if it floods the email box, then I can sort 'em and whatnot... Nevermind know to thank 'em.
I like them, too, and I do get emails for all skulls on projects but not for all skulls on profile pages. I also don't get on-site notifications for all skulls on profile pages which is the suspected bug that apparently @davedarko is also seeing. I was only referring to the email notifications because it says in the setting that they are limited to one per hour and it seems that's what's going on with the on-site notifications.
My bio and other basic info which I had entered on my profile is not showing up on my mobile device or here on desktop. :(
Hey @Donovan Magryta! Sorry to hear that, I'll take a look.
EDIT: Fixed now--Thanks for the tip!
In the messages, in particularly the conversations, new messages I (and others) post show up marked as "in 5 minutes" after posting. Either it's a bug in the time zone offset for UTC+1, or I'm living 5 minutes in the future. This bug sometimes disappears during the day, then reappears in the morning.
The community newsletter shows day of week instead of month.
Monday 7, 2016 instead of March 7, 2016 or even Monday March 7, 2016.
on hackaday.com the links to "NOW ON HACKADAY.IO" are all failing, it looks like the URL has spaces(%20) instead of dashes
I found a bug, the little nav bar on my profile page that shows:
PROJECTS (7) CONTRIBUTIONS (6) FOLLOWING (18) BITS (18)
It seems to max out at 18 for "FOLLOWING" - I am following way more than 18 projects but it only shows how many are currently visible not my total number (you have to press view more to see the rest).
Love Hackaday - but I absolutely HATE the page colour scheme. Some of the text I can only read by using CTRL-A to select everything. Please, do something about it. It seriously puts me off reading anything here.
Hey, I jsut tried it - that helps to see secret hidden messages on the page!
On the overview site of your projects (hackaday.io/projects/hacker/XXXXXX) groups would be nice. So that you can organize your own project in self defined groups.
I'm trying to re-claim my old project, but it looks like it's not owned by me, even tho i have recovered my password?
Julia Longtin -- Microwave Aluminium Printing
I tried to use the project files feature to provide a fritzing pcb schematic, but it wouldn't allow uploading it, even though it's technically a simple zip file.
Hmm, that's weird, I just tried it again, and it worked this time. Sorry for the noise.
I'd love to see "Download all files as single zip" when there are multiple files enclosed into project. Downloading more than dozen of files manually is pain in the S.
Hey, thanks for the awesome site! One issue I came across is that when you paste HTML into a project log, it'll display in the editor (For example, an iframe embed from 123Circuits). Though, when you publish the log, it will be cut from the log. If HTML is going to be filtered, I'd recommend that you don't allow HTML to be pasted into the editor. Also, this issue occurs in the discussion box I am typing this comment in.
I look forward to meeting you, learning from you and sharing my work.

I just LOVE publishing my projects here @ hackaday BUT adding images really lacks a important functionality:
Defining size by numbers while keeping the aspect ratio. I like my pictures to have all the same width throughout the text. Doing that by mouse is really annoying and cumbersome.
It would be great to be able to do that!
