Soft Robotic Orthopedic Insole

Soft robotics is a emerging technology that is great for human-physical interaction. This is a soft robotic insole that actuates using air.

By using air and a flexible material, like silicone, it is possible to get a super soft insole that provides support around the foot when inflated. Such an insole could be installed in any shoe and conform to the wearer.

The insole is composed of Ecoflex silicone that is casted in a 3D printed mold. There are built-in air pockets with air channels. For protection the whole insole is coated in spray rubber as a protective coating.
