1 × DB50XG Yamaha's great MIDI daughterboard
1 × CHiLL MIDI interface pcb MIDI interfacing PCB from serdashop.com
1 × Old Rockwell modem Only the case is used for this project
1 × Magazine file As you can see, the big black magazine file is broken. You can cut out some material to create the DB50XG rear panel using a fret saw. Then smoothen the edges using a rasp.
1 × Stick-on felt Sometimes, you need to compensate unwanted distances between the case and the electronics.
1 × Stick-on EVA gliders This rubber-like material is good for fitting the electronics into the case.
1 × Car tuning stripes (white and green) You need printable stickers in order to create good labels for the case. Printing on car tuning stripes is one possibility. The laser printer (Brother HL-2035) did a good job on the stripes with only one "paper" jam. You will need transparent adhesive film (not shown in the photograph) for the big sticker on the case. If you want to print text in the colour of the sticker (which will be glued onto a black surface), just invert your picture (black/white to white/black) before printing it.
1 × Hot-melt gun (hot glue) These guns are certainly not prohibited. Hot glue is ideal for closing small unwanted holes in the case. For best results, hold a flat object to the hole from the outside of the case, apply the glue on the inside of the case and wait until the glue has cooled down. Then remove the flat object.
1 × Epoxy glue (two-component glue) This glue is indispensable if you need a strong adhesive bond between the parts to be glued. It's perfect for repairing broken plastic cases or for glueing metal parts to plastic parts. It is recommended that you use epoxy glue for glueing the nuts to the lower part of the case. UHU Plus Schnellfest may be one of the best epoxy glues. Don't forget to wear disposable gloves when using epoxy glue. By the way, you may just want to forget about instant adhesive or superglue. This won't work ever...
1 × Plastic folders The light blue folder made it to the DB50XG in the form of a front panel. The colour was not very tasteful, which is why it had to be hidden by a black car tuning sticker. The second plastic folder ("Bewerbung") was used for testing purposes. No more job applications for today... ;-)
